The San Bernardino County Democratic Central Committee condemns the overly aggressive actions by ICE officers who are raiding communities and rounding up neighbors in LA County and across the country. ICE’s actions are unwarranted, unnecessary, and most definitely unwanted.
ICE agents claim to be looking for criminals and freeloaders, instead we see ICE going to workplaces and chasing farmworkers through fields at 6:00 AM. Is that really where criminals and freeloaders hang out? Of course not.
ICE has shown that they will go after anyone: documented or undocumented, adults or children, young or old, frail or healthy, US Senators or Congresswomen. ICE’s only real mission seems to be to terrorize and disrupt any and everyone.
The San Bernardino County Democratic Central Committee stands firmly against the ICE raids,the attempts at mass deportations, the terrorization of immigrants, the disruption of immigrant communities, the manhandling and handcuffing of Senator Alex Padilla, and the arrests of Congresswoman LaMonica McIver and Mayor Ras Baraka.
We applaud the Congressional delegations that have attempted to visit the detention centers and we stand with them in their ongoing attempts to ensure the detainees receive due process and are treated humanely.
