In keeping with the Democratic Party’s long-established support of reproductive rights, the San Bernardino County Democratic Party resolved on October 28, 2021 to support The Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021, which is under consideration in the US Senate at this time.
Democratic Representative Judy Chu (CA-27) has been instrumental in bringing forth this legislation, which, if enacted, will for the first time codify women’s access to abortion care under the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973. The House of Representatives passed H.R. 3755 on a party-line vote September 24, 2021, and companion Senate bill S. 1975 is currently before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The San Bernardino County Democratic Party resolved unanimously to urge the U.S. Senate to pass this bill, and prevent states from restricting access to abortion care. We also wish to commend Rep. Judy Chu for her tireless efforts on behalf of women’s reproductive rights.
