San Bernardino Democrats Support AB 1400

The San Bernardino County Democratic Party overwhelmingly voted at its General Meeting on January 27, 2022 to support AB 1400, Guaranteed Health Care for All, which is currently moving through the Assembly.

Several members spoke passionately in favor of this bill, recounting personal experiences with the health care system and how their lives and family members’ lives have been negatively impacted by the high cost of health care in California, and stating the belief that healthcare is a human right. The California Democratic Party’s platform includes universal, single-payer health care.

Members praised legislators with San Bernardino County constituencies who have endorsed this bill, including Assembly Majority Leader, Eloise Gómez Reyes.

Health care is a life and death matter that affects every Californian, regardless of immigration status, and the San Bernardino County Democratic Party hopes that every Democratic legislator in California will vote for universal health care at Monday’s floor vote.

San Bernardino Democrats pass resolution supporting Women’s Health Protection Act.

In keeping with the Democratic Party’s long-established support of reproductive rights, the San Bernardino County Democratic Party resolved on October 28, 2021 to support The Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021, which is under consideration in the US Senate at this time.

Democratic Representative Judy Chu (CA-27) has been instrumental in bringing forth this legislation, which, if enacted, will for the first time codify women’s access to abortion care under the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973. The House of Representatives passed H.R. 3755 on a party-line vote September 24, 2021, and companion Senate bill S. 1975 is currently before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The San Bernardino County Democratic Party resolved unanimously to urge the U.S. Senate to pass this bill, and prevent states from restricting access to abortion care. We also wish to commend Rep. Judy Chu for her tireless efforts on behalf of women’s reproductive rights.

San Bernardino Democrats Support Affordable Solar

During their August General Meeting, San Bernardino Democrats urged Gov. Newsom to reintroduce policies and measures that keep rooftop solar development affordable for homeowners. This is in response to efforts by investor owned utilities to hike the cost of installing and maintaining solar panels, after a similar bill was defeated in the California Assembly (AB 1139).

San Bernardino Democrats Reject Extremist Rally

The San Bernardino County Democratic Party is outraged that the so-called America First Rally was able to land a venue in the Inland Empire. These extremist rallies are a platform for racism and lies, and they are not welcome here.  We join the chorus of angry voices – from Orange to Riverside County – denouncing everything about this hate-filled event.
